Chapter One :Chapter 1

"Shirley, ever since Sylvia was found and brought home, you have been bullying and hurting her. Your mother and I tried to bear with you all this time, but your pushing her down the staircase today is really too much!

So, pack your things and get back to your birth parents. There's no room for you in the Yankee family anymore."

The cold words were heard by Shirley, who seemed to be indifferent with her mask on, and continued playing games on her phone.

Seeing how Shirley was disregarding his words, Jones Yankee, her so called father, grasped her phone and threw it onto the floor, "Shirley, did you not hear my telling you to pack and leave?"

Shirley picked up her broken phone from the floor and continued playing, making Jones furious, "Shirley!"

Just as Jones was about to take away her phone again, the words 'You Win' appeared on her phone screen.

She has completed the last championship match.

Giving out a breath of relief, Shirley put her phone inside her pocket and stood up from the sofa to stare at Jones, saying, "I am ready to leave this complicated family, even if you didn't ask me to."

Ever since Sylvia, the actual daughter of the Yankee family, was found and brought home three months ago, everyone in the family was trying to find trouble with Shirley.

Sylvia was going against her every day, trying to drive her out of the family so that her position as the actual daughter of the Yankee family could be reclaimed.

Although Shirley planned to leave three months ago, she stayed back to arrange for her brother's medical treatments.

Now that her brother was almost recovered, she didn't need to stay further in the family.

Shirley took her already packed bag and walked out of the house without looking back.

At the door, she saw Sylvia and May Yankee, her so called mother, coming back from the hospital.

May had never liked her. She considered Shirley as a daughter who was indolent, poor at studies and always ranking at the bottom of her class, and worst of all, a social misfit.

A year ago, when Shirley had a car accident, May discovered that she was not her birth daughter, so she neglected her serious injury and began to search for her actual daughter.

Three months ago, she finally found her gentle and academically qualified daughter, Sylvia, who was constantly bullied and hurt by Shirley, soon after being brought home.

May found it intolerable. While helping Shirley to search for her birth parents she planned to drive her out of the family.

Her son, however, strongly opposed to this and so she had to keep Shirley in the house.

Nevertheless, following today's incident when Shirley almost killed their daughter, May and Jones decided that while their son was in the hospital, they would promptly drive Shirley away. Looking at her current demeanor, was she planning to leave?

May 's thoughts returned to the present, and she glanced at Shirley with disgust. Seeing the mask on her face, her disdain deepened.

Since her disfigurement from the car accident, she had always been wearing that silver mask.

Every time she saw her, she felt terrible!

But her face without the mask is even more terrible. One year ago, she had seen her face unintentionally. Shirley's face was full of scars like centipedes.

Thinking about this, May could not help but shudder.

Standing by her side, Sylvia noticed her staring silently at Shirley, and she spoke out, leaning on her crutch, "Are you leaving us to return to your parents' home?"

Sylvia's voice made Shirley pause, and she turned her face to look at her with indifferent eyes.

Before Shirley replied, Sylvia took out some cash from her wallet and stuffed it into her hand, "I heard that your family is very poor; the younger brother is sick; and the parents are farmers who can't earn much money. Sis, upon your return, the burden of supporting the family will all fall on you; I can't help but feel pity for you whenever I think of this. So, take this money, I hope it can provide you some help."

Shirley lowered her eyes and looked at the money in her hand, chuckling lightly. Is this tiny amount supposed to appease a beggar?

With a gaze as cold as ice, Shirley spoke, "Since you're so worried about me, so afraid I won't have enough money to spend when I get home, why don't you simply give me a million or two to help me out? This little bit of money makes me think you're stingy."

Sylvia originally wanted to use this little bit of money to humiliate Shirley, but she didn't expect that she would shamelessly complain about its insufficiency.

Sylvia's lips pressed into a taut line, struggling to maintain her polite smile, "Sis, I'd love to give you a million or two, but I don't have that much cash with me right now."

"No problem, you can transfer it to me online."

Without hesitation, Shirley pulled out her phone and handed it to Sylvia, inviting her to make a transfer.

Sylvia's smile froze on her face, her lips involuntarily twitched twice, so Shirley is really cheeky to her extremes...

"Sis, I..."

Shirley interrupted her, "If you can't afford it, don't pretend to be generous in front of me, it's so disgusting that even I feel embarrassed for you!"

Provoked by the words, Sylvia immediately took out her own phone, scanned the code and transferred one million to Shirley, "Is it just one million? I can earn it back by shooting an ad, but for you sis, if you want to earn a million, I'm afraid you would have to sell yourself for a lifetime, wouldn't you?"

After glancing at the transfer of one million into her account, Shirley put away her phone and retorted, "You seem to know a lot about the market price of selling oneself, hmmm? Did you do it before coming back to the Yankee Family? What was your average price per session?"

"You're... You're talking nonsense!"

Sylvia's entire face turned bright red in shame. May, who had been standing by, was extremely angry, "Shirley! How dare you speak to Sylvia like that? I'm ordering you to kneel down and apologize to her immediately! If not, don't even think about coming back to the Yankee Family ever again."

From the moment they left her alone at the hospital a year ago, struggling between life and death, this place ceased to be her home!

When close to death, she suddenly came to understand a lot of things. No matter how much she secretly sacrificed for the Yankee Family, they always despised her...

Given that, why should she be so eager to please them?

What a waste of time!

With a luminous smile, Shirley looked towards May, "Rest assured, even if your entire family begs me, I won't step into the Yankee family again."

Hearing this, May was furious and berated Shirley, but she didn't care and left them without another word.

From today onwards, she had nothing to do with the Yankee family.

...

No sooner had Shirley left the Yankee family, than a discontinued model of a Corniche pulled up in front of her.

As the car window slowly rolled down, a face she recognized appeared in her sight.
